It's so hot, I forgot to think of a title for this post...

I'm a wimp. My time in what is quite possibly the most temperate climate on earth has made me soft. SOFT, I TELL YA! Here I sit, somewhat uncomfortably in this mini heatwave we're having here in London, wondering how hot it is outside and so, as always, I turn to weather.com.

And then, just for funsies I check out how hot it is at home.

104!!!! vs. 82. Yup. I'm a wimp.

Yesterday we saw a monster.

It was sleeping when we first saw it.

But then a pretty lady playing a clarinet appeared.

The monster seemed undisturbed by the music. It slept on.

She talked to it...

...and petted its cheek...

...but still it slept.
Finally after all the little boys and girls shouted for it to wake up,
it did.

The Babe was pretty impressed.

New Specs

I'm a little ashamed to admit this, but it's been 4 years since my last eye exam and I pretty sure I need new glasses. The Boy has been after me for a while to do this. He says that I'm missing most of all the coolness around me due to the fact that I am half blind. And, as painful as it is to admit, he's right. Lately I've begun to notice that trees are a little (OK a lot) fuzzier. So is the movie screen. And pretty much anything that's beyond 5 feet away. So last week we went to try on different frames. This week I'll be getting new glasses. Here are some pics of the styles I tried. Please feel free to weigh in on your favorite.

1. Chanel   2.Tiffany and Co.   3. Oliver Peoples
4. Oliver Peoples   5. Paul Smith   6. Ralph Lauren
7. Tom Ford   8. an homage to Edna from The Incredibles
9. and, of course, the Harry Potter look

9 Months

A few weeks ago, while I was making the bed and you were playing in your crib, I turned around and there you were - standing. You'd pulled yourself and were happily holding on to the rail. You've become more and more confident with standing everyday since. You even stood up all by yourself for Daddy, holding on to absolutely until you realized what you were doing. You haven't given a repeat performance for me yet, but I know it can't be far off, since you've already moved on to only needing to hold on with one hand.

You now have 6 beautiful teeth - 2 on the bottom and 4 on the top - and judging from the level of clingy and cranky you've been the past few days I'd say we can expect more very soon.

This has not been a good month for sleeping. You've gotten into the habit of waking once in the night for a little cuddle. But the most frustrating for us is you getting up with the sun, which means 4 am. Not fun. Luckily, a little snack and a snuggle usually sees you back to sleep until 8 or so.

You're cruising with the crawling now. We have our hands full keeping you out of trouble.

You are still unsure of grass.

You weren't too sure of swimming there for a while either, but our last lesson went, well, swimmingly. For the first time you went a whole lesson without crying. You even laughed!

Happy 9 Months, my sweet baby! You are officially longer out than in.
