Happy Birthday...

...to my best friend, my partner in crime, my soul mate, love of my life,
one of my two most favorite people on earth.
Here's to being a year older and somewhat wiser!

8 Months

The big news: you're crawling! It's not graceful. You won't win any races, but you are definitely mobile. You have to rock on all fours for a moment to get started, launching yourself forward like an old cartoon car. When holding yourself up gets to be too much, you resort to the combat crawl, which you are very good at.

You are a good eater. You will try pretty much anything we put in front of you.  There are no tears if you do not like something. Just a "cat face" and a full body shutter let us know you aren't very keen on things like carrots. Chewing is still a bit of a mystery to you and so you are not excited about "lumpy" foods.

You had your first experience with "walking" on grass the other day. I could tell that you were reserving your judgment until a later date.

You're too squirmy now for mummy/baby yoga and so we have moved on to baby swimming. Your first lesson was today and I think it was a success. You enjoyed splashing around a bit and bouncing in the water. You DID NOT like getting out of the warm water to go into the slightly cooler dressing room to get dry and dressed.

You are fascinated by other people and have a big beautiful smile for everyone. You reach out to other babies, petting and touching them gently, careful and testing out your own strength.

You have a strong, loud, wide ranging theater voice which you use prolifically.  I am beginning to suspect that you have inherited Mommie's vocal ability and Daddy's lung capacity. There are high pitched squeals of delight and low rumbles of dissent and everything in between.

You love being outside in the garden. You are excited when I open the door for our walks.

Your two front bottom teeth are in and we are expect the front top ones any day now.

Your favorite toy lately is a ball. Rolling it back and forth to Daddy draws squeals and giggles every time.

You are a happy, adventurous boy and the wonder and joy of our lives.

Happy 8 months, Mr. Smoosh!
